For our location we are using an apartment in a very run down but beautiful Victorian building in Central London. It is seeing its first coat of paint in around 50 years “it feels bad that I walk into this wonderful building and there are guys painting, then into this great room… and I am having to talk about myself…I would rather be taking photographs here, it’s perfect”. He is the most delightful, warm and charming man. Weber, based in the U.S.A is in London for the screening and re-release of his documentary film about Chet Baker, “Let’s Get Lost”, this same evening a dinner will be held after the film at an Indian restaurant in Kensington. As a point to note, the also delightful Claire de Rouen will be at the dinner. Over the years Claire has become a good friend of Bruce. When you see the work of Bruce Weber it is impossible to disregard the quality of the images, whatever the subject the portrayal is always of the most idyllic and wonderous atmosphere, he has the ability of making the subject appear how he wishes it to be. He has produced photographs of so many people, Chet Baker, Matt Dillon, The Duchess of Devonshire, Madonna, from Patti Smith to Queen Latifah and all at their very most iconic.
The interview with Bruce Weber appears in full on the Dvd in this issue.
